Default ONE more then I'll stop...CRAPPIE CAKES oh lord help me...these things are LIKE CRACK

I take some big crappie filets and BOIL them with crab boil. I strain the water away using a very fine sive (to save all the meat). I then went to GOOGLE and typed in Maryland Crab Cakes (make sure it's one that calls for some green onion). I got a receipe for one, got it all together and where it called for X pounds of crab meat I placed in X pounds of the boild crappie. We made the cakes, sauteed them in butter and OH MY GOSH people went nuts.

Also like smoked Crappie Dip...ANY TAKERS ON THIS ONE?

    Hey Sac-a-lait:

I make "Crab Dip" with crappie fillets - slow cook them in Crawfish, Crab, Shrimp Boil too. Just cooked a mess this evening and letting it chill before I can mix it up.

The recipe is on my website at - http://www.actionfishingtrips.com/recipes.htm - if you want it. You'll have to scroll down the page a ways though.

I'll have to try the "Maryland Crab Cakes". I made some fish patties before with crappie but didn't get the seasoning right and they were pretty bland.

Since you have crappie filets simmering in ole bay crab boil , try this.

Take filets from crab boil when done and try to keep'm as whole as possible.

Then drain and chill fillet's in frig till cold.

Mix a 1/2 cup of ketchup and table spoon of horse radish and teaspoon of real lemon juice together.

touch fillet's into sause lightly and enjoy.

This sounds like the making of a crappie cookbook.
    Birddog,

I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray. When in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep. That in His mercy I be judged, BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.
