Default Longview Sunday should be fine

Drove by yesterday, about a 1/4 of the main lake was ice free. Today went back to buy my permit for the year (price doubled with new boat went from 70hp to 150hp) and looks to be about 1/2 open. I'd say by Sunday morning it should be at least 3/4 open and the ice is pretty week judging by what I tested around the ramp.

One way or another, this boat is going on the lake, and I'm doing some fishing.

Thought I'd post in case anyone else might be planning to get out around KC. I will be breaking any ice that's left around the ramp with my boat, so everyone else should be fine.

Be careful not to damage that hull on the ice and be safe.

Thanks. I'm going to do a drive by in an hour or two and see what last nights low temps did. Hopefully not much, but we'll see.

Ready for all this cold to go away. Even though I know it won't be that long, it seems like a lifetime.

Just drove by while running errands. A lot less ice today. There's maybe 50 yards of ice, and all the ice around the ramp breaks with
Zero pressure. Think I'm going to pull the rig out for a couple hours, then come home and get ready to watch the commercials.

My question is: with ice, how thick is too thick for fiberglass? This ice seems pretty thin so I believe I can just plow through at an idle.

Just don't want to tear anything up.

Well. Didn't happen today. I sure hope that things are improved by next weekend. This winter has been the worst in a long time. Hopefully it's just reversed this year. I seem to remember the last few years we've had some freezing for 3 or 4 weeks as I recall, maybe we are getting it out of the way early.

it don't take much ice to mess things, it can bunch up under the boat and scratch the heck out of a boat, or mess up a transducer. you probably did best by waiting. it will get better, I said so
