Don't know if this helps, but do a Google search link for "breakwater + tires".
All:
A new owner of a marina out here in West Texas is contemplating constructing and placing a tire breakwater to protect his commercial crappie barge from the wicked West Texas wind.
Does anyone know any of any design details or where to find information on using tires for breakwaters? I know it would be alot to ask of, but if you have pictures of one on your lake and would care to share, that would be great.
He has approval to utilize tires todo this, but would like information from those with experience in constructing a tire breakwater or just your ideas or dealings with observing these would be appreciated.
Regards and Many Thanks,

I don't know much about them but have seen one in use up on Texoma and it works pretty good as far as I could see. They used large tractor tires wired together with some kind of flotation in them. I would think it would take alot of weight to anchor it where a bad storm wouldn't move it.

I've seen one somewhere, but I don't remember how it was set up.
Saw one on a fishing show one time but some groups are asking that people don't use them as when they deteriorate they cause problems.
