I started with the 1000 size and when I tried the 2500 size I found that it cast better, coiled the lite line I use a lot less, and holds enuff line for more than one trip to the brush piles. my 1000 don't get much use any more.

I gotta agree with Doc. The 2500 cast a whole lot better.

Same here. I've pretty much abandoned the smaller reels.

Even in the SideStab and Symetry the 2500 cast better. The only Shimano series reel less than a 2500 that I've got right now that casts as good is the old TX-110 (Old Fightin Series).

It's actually hilarious when it happens to the guy in the boat beside you!!!:D

I own 3 stradic 1000's and one 2500, I love all 4 but the 1000's see the most duty for me!

My 2500 are for bass and walleye. I use the 1000 most of the time in brush or tree tops. but for vertical jigging I stick with my ultra-lites. Just like the feel of the fight on them. I like to give the fish a fighting chance. EB

If you do a lot of casting, the larger the spool the further you can cast with less twist in your line, so I fall in the 2500 fan group. One more thing about the new Stradic is they FINALLY redesigned the bail trip so its quality matches the rest of the reel. For the last few years every reel they made, even the $600 Stella had that totally crappy bail trip that locks up the reel, which I could not tolerate, so I have been buying Daiwa's and Pfluegers. Now even though the new Stradic is $200 I think I'll get one. I think that reel may be so good that it will make the Stella and the Sustain obsolete. It's even lighter than the Steez which was the lightest reel in the world.
Good things come to those who bait.
