Default Crappie Thunder. Anyone use these?

Just picked up a couple of white Crappie Thunder jigs today at wally world. They seem pretty big to be crappie jigs, but I guess that's just compared to the normal tube jigs I use. When would you use this large of a jig? How have they worked best for you?

I've caught some dandy crappie when using the solid tube bodies like Crappie Thunder (if that is what you are referring to). I actually like using them more than standard hollow bodied tubes. Last longer and stay on the jig head much better.

They are great to use during the spawn. Blue and white in 1/16th oz. have been a good color/size for me in the past.

The bulk helps to keep them up in shallow water and can be fished pretty slow.

The hooks are a little small and you will lose some of the better crappie at the boat if you don't net them.

Make sure you use a jighead with a sickle hook.I got a couple of bags from Barlows and have not used them yet,but they look like they will do the trick with a 1/16 minnow head and a #1 sickle.

I've used them a few times and did OK. I'm still a "minner" guy about 75% of the time.

You would be surprised at how many crappie are caught on 4" bass tubes with 3/0 and 4/0 hooks
