Does anyone use a stainless steel shot tumbler to 'clean up' cast lead heads prior to painting?

I don't think that wold be good for the hook point or finish on the hook.

I just hit the "sprue clip" a few times on a piece of sandpaper and use the gate shears to clean any flash on the hook.

Are you having flashing (fins) problems? If so your lead may be too hot or you have some debris on your mold that's keeping it from closing tightly. I clean my mold with a small brass bristle brush.

If your jigs are oxidized you can clean them up with just 3 or 4 strokes of an old toothbrush.

For really oxidized jigs wash just the heads in vinegar and then rinse in water. Takes off all grime and oils from your hands.
