    Default Fishfinder

I recently bought a boat... now for a fish finder.

Anyone have any advice or tips of picking out a fish finder. Mainly for finding structure, drop off, ect.

Also - how do you all feel about "Crappie Thunder" jigs.

You should look at the Eagle line up. I would reccomend the Fish Mark 320 & 480. Best bang for the buck. If you are near a Cabela,s or Bass Pro, go look at them. You can also look at the Eagle site & actually play with both units with the product emulators. Good luck on your purchase!! <*)}}}><

    .

Another vote for the Eagle Fish Mark 320 or 480. They are made by Lowrance.

I use the Hummingbird 727 with the WIDE-SIDE Trolling Motor Transducer that has 150* of coverage. Its not to be compared to the Humminbird® 1197c Fishfinder Which cost $2500
It has a large High-resolution, grayscale 640V x 320H 5" display which works very well. I'd stay away from cheap color finders. Because I fish in shallow lakes 5'to15 The wide side transponder works perfectly. I can switch from side to side depending which the bank is. I can scan underwater to see if there are fish under it.
The Hummingbird 700 series are very adequate unless you want to splurge
THe Humminbird 768 on sale at cabelas for 299 down from 499 is the best bang for the buck. It will work with the "WIDE-SIDE 150*ducer which cost 82.

    Thumbs up

I'd like to add the narrow beam ducers are practically worthless to me. Only the "WIDE-SIDE"works.

I just went out today for the 1st time and got to put my eagle fish elite 480 through the paces, I picked up the unit on clearance at BPS, its a very nice unit if you dont have thousands to spend on an SI or HD unit, user friendly, made a great 1st impression on me...... just my meager 2 cents worth
