I am glad to report back that my two HB depth finders cleared up after two weeks and two pounds of rice in a zip lock bag. I could not find the orginal post I made to thank the person who offer the tip about the rice. It worked for me.

What do you Clean your screens with. Is there a certain solution, or just a glass cleaner ? ? ?
If U are goin to use a glass cleaner make sure it does NOT contain any Alcohol or Ammonia, as these can eat into the plastic screen. I believe the glass cleaner containing vinegar has been OK by Hb to use. I use sparkle brand as does many folks I know. I also carry in my boat Nice'n CLEAN brand Electronic Cleaning Wipes
sold in Electronic/TV section of walmart. They are individually wrapped & come 10 or 20?? to a box, made for cleaning computer monitors, notebook computer etc.

Thanks again POPPOP. I keep them in the bag and rice between trips to keep them dryed out. I also try to remember to turn off the back light during the day.

I have wondered if it might be a sign of a bad/leaking gasket that will cause the inside fogging? If so, would it be worth running a small bead of silicone around the seam?

My Garmin did the screen fog thing. I opened the unit and dropped in a silica gel desiccant bag and "poof" went the fog. Bag is still inside the unit. :o Oh well.
