Heat gun will do it.
Hey all!
I recently registered my 1985 Charger fiberglass bass boat in Louisiana after its previous registration in another state. How do I remove the old registration letters/stickers without damaging the fiberglass? Or should I just put the new letters/stickers over the old ones? I don't really want to scrape the letters/stickers off for fear of damaging the gel coat. So I'm thinking I need a solvent of some kind to release the adhesive on the old stickers. Thanks in advance for your help. This is my first fiberglass boat so I'm open to your suggestions.

I used a heat gun to remove 10 years worth of stickers on my project boat. My rig is aluminum and I had no problems with a heat gun. I did have to use a putty knife to peel the stickers off. The putty knive scrapped some paint off.
WD-40 may do the trick. It works well with removing adhesives from smooth surfaces- you will need to rub a little and you will be amazed. I used it on old (I mean old) box tape left on an outboard which was relentless and not coming off- it practically wiped off with WD-40.
A heat gun will help a lot. The WD40 will help remove the adhesive but you will need something to remove the WD40 or the new ones will not stick good. You can use starting fluid to remove the WD40. They sell products for this purpose. They sell one called sticker off and one called sticker on. I think Bass Pro Shops has them.

Use both the hair dryer and then goop. Works great. You may need a plastic scraper. You will find those at Lowes or any construction supply.

Acetone. It'll get paint too. Test a spot first.
I tried a hair dryer it did not work very well. I got a heat gun and it worked perfect.
