Default Humminbird 797 on the ice

I'm kicking around the idea of buying an extra base and extra ducer and turning my 797 into something I can use on the ice. Anyone ever do this?

I figure the flasher option would be as good as any on the Humminbird ice flasher. I do have an extra ducer cause I use my universal sonar, soi might not need to buy an ice ducer.

    Any potential problems ?

I did it last year. It worked great but my vexilar is alot less hassle. The only thing is I want to get some of my way points. All summer I said I was going to write them down, even bought a journal to do so.

I wouldn't take my SI out there before i checked to see if that would void my warrenty. If your screen freezes because of the cold and needs repaired, it might be pretty pricey.
