has anybody tried large size line flatlining?

any body have experience with this?

i'm thinking large line would run higher in shallow water with same size jigs than smaller line. given the same length of line out and same angle of rod.

any body experiment with this that would share some info?

What do you consider large? Caught a decent number of crappie on 10-14 lb mono in a very clear pond. Use some flourocarbon if you're worried about the visibility.

I'll let you know tommorow...I strung up all my poles with 15lb hi-vis for some striper fun last week and i dont want to respool quite yet. I'm thinkin if add some 8lb vanish as a leader and tie on doubles then it may be near the same depth as the single runs...Oh well, gonna give it a try:D I'll holler back at yall with results...

I use 6# hi=viz speed up when going shallow. This alows me to break off when hung. With heavey line you get hung your stopped and more than likely all your lines hung and maybe a busted pole or two.

As long as you get your line down in the strike zone it shouldn't make any difference what weight line your using. I've trolled for trout with 14lb. test line and caught crappie.

DONT DO IT...
I just got back with the results and it aint good. Hung a 12ft Wally Marshall pole and broke it, instead of the line

Not to mention the line coiled and would'nt straiten out with double 1/16 jiggs, Plus couldn't see if the fish were lifting

Ended up respooling in the boat with 6lb and everything was good again.

Expensive lesson learned today and lost valuable time on the water...
