    Default Scott City

Went out to Scott City last weekend. Hunted private ground for two and half days. Saw around two hundred birds a day, missed a lot of birds and a lot were wild. Three of the four guys were newbies to pheasant hunting so there were lots of good laughs at there atempts to shoot birds. Between four of us I think we had around twenty birds. Never saw a single quail or chicken. Does anyone use the remington nitro pheasant loads? I shot them all weekend and cant remember a trip where I had hit so many birds and watched them keep flying. I usually shoot #5 fiochi golden pheasants and have always had good luck with them. Got the nitros for free so I tried them and probably wont go back to them. I might be crazy and it makes no difference on shells but I gotta blame it on something.

The Fiochi are the best and I use the federal high brass #5 or #6 also. Did you stay in a Motel or did you stay with friends? We go out there every year to some friends who own a couple of feed lots. Lots of birds but hate the rooms.
It's not duck season so I have to do something... :D

Thanks for the report! Sounds like you guys had a great time out there.

Lots of people love the Fiocci. Personally, I don't care for them. I shot a box of them and found that I crippled and lost a lot of roosters. I've since gone back to my Winchesters, and have been much happier. The rest of my hunting buddies shoot the Fiocci's just fine, but they didn't work for me.

I haven't ever tried the Remington Nitro pheasant. I've shot really well with the Winchesters the last few years, and after the bad experience with the box of Fiocci's, I doubt I will try anything different.
I am just pullin' your leg.:D

We stayed at a house. I wonder if my choke affects certain shells differently? I would like to pattern both of those shells and see if maybe I've got a hole in one.

your choke can blow your pattern if your shooting hot loads I would cut one shell open and see what the shot looks like are they all the same size ,how many are miss shaped also how much powder to hot of a load can blow your pattern but that shouldn't happen with store loads I've seen it more with hand loads I shot nitos for ducks and they seem to be a good load you can't go wrong with Winchester or fiocchi # 5 or 6's
