    Default Hey Boscoe

When you rig your poles for fishing in the local rivers, just how do you do it? I tried a couple of your baits today with no luck. We were down Weeksville way in Newbegun creek. I just can't seem to get them to bite during the summer. We were catching some nice white perch down there, but not much today.

We use slip bobbers and a slow retrive, or just let the current or wind move the jig, vary the depth till we find the right depth, starting about a foot off the bottom and working up. We use a crappie nibble or a small piece of red worm for some attraction. If there is any tidal current try around things like pilings or stick-ups that break the current, seems like during the summer the crappies stay close to the bottom or objects most of the day except at sunrise or sunset.

Do you use any weight with the jigs?

We use one or two BB shot, just to get it to sink, maybe a size bigger if we are trying deeper or there is much current. We also have been using fly clips to attach the jigs to the line, seems to let the jig swing with more action and makes for quicker changes of jigs.
