Of course. Tubes were king when I went to school.
Started to post this under fishing electronics, but figured I'd get in trouble...
Just kidding Mr. Tom, I like this old thing - reminds me of better times
in this world. Tom, you know your way around the vacuum tubes
and junk in here?

When I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations I have a good day
Seems like there ain't as many people talking now like when I was a kid
and first came into the radio.
Other night I drug it out and called the kids in to listen - got Cuba,
and I think Columbia. Listened to some real catchy tunes outta Cuba,
grabbed my littlest girl and we cut a rug in the kitchen :D and I'd of died if anybody'd seen me - dancin' ain't my thing.

No Sir, I was surprised, but there are some copyright dates on manuals
etc. dated 1957.
I've had it since around '75 or so, from my Grandma.

Zenith Trans oceanaic, I always wanted one of those. I had a National back in 57. Reverse that number and you get my age now.
There were several versions of the Zenith TO's made and they went through a few model that were made with transistors. I think I still have about three of the different tube models and two of the solid state models. The military also made a couple of versions of the tube models. There is, I think, there are three large color books out on the history and service of the TO/s that I have around here some where. As Don G. knows, I was into collecting and restoring antique radios for may years, but have been getting rid of many the past few years; At one time I had a little over 300 radios. I was doing all the electronics and also all the cabinet work and refinishing, and I wasn't getting any of mine done.. I'm down to maybe a 100 now between console floor models and table radios, mostly from the 20's, 30's, and 40's... Canepole, you need to get yourself a set of spare tubes for it. The 1L6 is hard to come by and have gone sky high in price, abound $30, the others are easy to come by and don't cost much... The 1L6 was the osc and although there were a couple of tubes that would work to a fashion, but not well.

Is this the portable model that runs off batteries? Like 90 volt battery?
