Go to Google or Yahoo search and type in iceshanty.com. All kinds of info. I wouldn't go without my Marcum. Vexilar & Marcum are both good. Haven't heard any reports or seen the Humminbird version.
Was thinking of getting a vexilar or humminbird ice locator..how do you read those darn things? what does the red, green, etc lighting mean..says you can see your jig and fish below it? someone enlighten me on these things and how they work!!!!!!! thanks in advance

HAVE A CRAPPIE DAY
log on to icefishing today they will explain it in full detail
The vexilars are good but not in all situations. I have tried my vex in open water with ul jigs and its almost impossible to keep the jig under the cone with the slight wind and current that exists in open water.
Now how it works is green yellow and red. red is a fish directly in the center of the cone beam, yellow is a smaller fish or fish out from the center and green is a small fish or fish all the way on the outside of the beam. then you also adjust the gain to see you lure, so its like a video game:p. they are called flashers and are in real time
