Default Preparing A Fish For The Taxidermist

Another nitefisher and myself have decided that the first 3lb crappie we catch will go on the wall. I thought I had one last nite but it was only 2lb 5oz. In anticipation of catching a mountable fish, can anyone tell me the proper method for keeping the fish prior to a trip to the taxidermist. I'm not interested in a fiberglass replica.

We have froze our fish whole in five gallon buckets full of water in our deep freezers. It has worked for the 3 mounts that I have on my wall, and for my Dad's 8' 11oz Bass too. I don't know if it is really the proper method or not though. I just thought it may be worth mentioning here.
