Was there last night for 2 hrs. nothing, nada. Not even a bite.
fished under the W bridge and along tree lines
Caught one eight inch fish in 5 hours. Spun a prop hub 5 mi from the nearest ramp. Got a tow from another fisherman to Camp Branch. A ranger gave me a ride from there to Hwy W where my truck was parked. "A bad day fishing better than a good day at work?" We'll see... When I got home there was a message on my answering maching asking me to call about a job for which I'd just interviewed ... (They don't call people to tell them "Sorry" do they? Will know in a few hours.
Mark
P.S. The one fish was about 10' down in timber in 22' of water, in a cove.
1 fish in 5 hours? That is discouraging. I was hoping to hear good reports this week with the weather and all. Hopefully they will come out of hiding next week when I get back on the water. Has anybody fished around any of the slips at the marinas?
When in doubt, set the hook.
Knew I shoulda gone Monday! Wind was strong after 10:30 on Tue. but I just wasn't where the fish were. Saw several boats fishing timber near the mouth of Shady Lake Cove and the one just across the lake (Does it have a name)... the 2nd cove on the right just south of W... the one that forks halfway back. Guess the moral of the story is " if you see a tall guy in an itty-bitty silver Champion, say "Hi" but fish somewhere else... He ain't catchin any!"
One consolation... I got the job. (Now I'll have fewer unproductive fishing trips)
SS-congrats on the job-I guess
Windy all week-caught 3 shorts in about 4 feet of water today-30 minutes
Then came home and mowed the yard for the last time(third time I've said that)
Anybody fishing this week? From inside, it looks like a perfect day to be on the lake...that is until I step outside. Friday looks to be the day to be on the water. Let's hope this cold front has lowered the water temp and the fish will be schooled together.
When in doubt, set the hook.
Thinking about it... Time to start carrying a thermos of coffee... or soup...
Water temp 51, according to the Corps website. Guess I'll decide tomorrow.
I gave it a shot Mon.,thought they might be biting before the cold front.
I was wrong.
Will give it a shot sat. morning,I hope
