I think if I was looking for a leak in my boat I would remove the dry storage bin from the front casting deck and put 5-10 gal. of water with a food die in it. Then look for the leak with the boat on the trailer.Originally Posted by adamr
Having a couple of issues with the boat after a windy, rough weekend. I have two questions: First, my power trim is not working correctly. I am able to trim my engine up, but not down. When i push the button, it's not responding at all, not a click or anything. Second, I seem to have developed a leak somewhere. What is the best way to determing where it is coming from. I have looked it over thoroughly inside and out. It seems as though it is coming from the rear somewhere. I think i might try to put some water inside the boat and see where it leaks. any other suggestions? thanks for the help.

Things on the trim..Trim button no good, trim down relay no good or faulty wiring (or corrosion). What engine u have? Helps to know this. If relay bad, u can get one at auto parts store at half the cost of boat dealer. It is only a horn relay.
My boat leaks too. Has since day one. I just replace bilge pumps occasionally...ha

my trim went out last week also, excet mine would go down but not up.
found that my problen was the down celinoid. i have a 60hp merc.it has 2 1 for up 1 for down......it was a 20.00 fix at a boat dealer.....auto parts had the part but the ones they had were too tall to be able to link the 2 together.....
good luck hope it helps
Hey Adamr:
Be sure and check your live wells and/or bait tanks for leaks, including the hoses and fittings running to them. To check the livewells just put water in them while the boat is on the trailer and see if water comes out the hull drain hole. You can also fill them to a certain level and then come back later and see if the water has gone down. If you have a pump to fill your livewells from with lake water make sure the housing or hose fittings on it aren't leaking.
If it is the relay, check with the auto parts store and also Radio ShacK. I know exactly what 247 talking about. Some just too tall (Tab).Originally Posted by fishman247

..if you have more than 1 switch for t/t...console and motor..try switchs if neither sw works bad relay, if one sw works other sw bad....if only one sw look by motor controls and find 3 wires together...1 blue, 1 green and either red or black....these are t/t wires....there will be a connector close to controls....disconnect connector...blue=up, green=down, other color 12volts...use paper clip or something to jumper other color to blue and see if motor goes up to make sure you got right wires...then jump other color to green if motor goes down bad switch...if not then bad sol/relay or other possible problem.....let us know what happens...good luck!!
