    Default A Day Off

Since I was off today I took my two boys, my brother-in-law and my wife's aunt fishing for a few hours in the middle of the day.

We ended up with a good mess but had to fish 23 to 29-feet deep for a lot of them:

(11-year-old couldn't stop fishing long enough to get in the picture)

About half were caught on 1/16th-ounce, orange/silver/chartreuse and chartreuse/silver/chartreuse hair jigs tipped with small rosy red minnows. The rest were caught on Rosy Reds or Shiners under slip-floats. The biggest one was 16-inches long and weighed 2-pounds, 4-ounces.
    FISH ON!

The difference between fishing with family instead of customers is that when I start getting THUMPED on a jig I can keep right on fishing. When I'm with customers I try to make sure they are catching most of the fish while "I'm just checking different depths with my jig".

thanks for the great picts, U know I've tried those rosy reds here in Illinois for crappie cause everybody said they were great, never had much luck with them the 10 or 12 times i tried, caught a few fish but very few compared to shiners or fatheads....
