    Default Howdy

    Hey guys,

I have been looking for a good site to learn how to better fish. So far this looks like the most open community I have found. I am 20 y/o and live in Arkansas about 15 miles from lake Degray. I am a student at Henderson State University. I have just picked up fishing again this past week after not fishing for years. I started fishing as a kid with hook and bobber, and later took a fishing camp at Camp Tanniko outside of Hot Sprints, AR. Fished alot during boy scouts also.

I have forgotten everything I know about fishing because of the length of time its been since I last fished. But and wanting to learn to crappie, bass, and catfish fish. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. If any of you know some good topics for me to read specifically please post me a link to get to. Or any sites that have good guides.

Right now what I am fishing with is:

A zebco 33 rod and reel
A shakespear Firebird rod and reel (My girlfriend uses this one)

    tackle:
    rooster tails
    plastic worms
    spinner worms with double hooks
    I have a spoon tackle
some other assortment of small fish with hooks in them.

    line:
I am using red cajun line 8 lbs. in both reels.

I fish from the bank, and do not have access to a boat. I have been fishing in a small cove at Lake Degray and to be honest have not caught anything. :-( So I know I must be doing somthing wrong. Will be heading up there tomorrow during the day and take me some water and will try to catch something.

I will be around alot reading and hopefully posting. Hope to get to know some of the guys from Arkansas and to become a part of this large community!

    Thanks,
    Joseph S. Duncan

Welcome to the forum, there are some crappie savvy people on this site if they don't know it, it ain't knowable. They seem to be able to take a joke pretty good to, i think you will like it here.

Don't give up just because you haven't caught anything does not mean you are doing something wrong, to me fish are weird and sometimes there is no rhyme or reason why fish don't bite. That's my take on it anyway.

welcome from ,al. you can catch just as many fish with a zebco 33 as some of these guys that spend a hundred to three hundred for there reels. a lot of times these big expensive boats poles and reels ,etc is just compensating for someone who does not no how to fish
The fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad
