Down here in NC we catch'em all year long. Infact Jan and Feb are among the best months for us.
just wondering how long the crappie bite will remain good?
does it slow any before the ice? I am thinking i have about 4-6 weeks left before the water go's hard.

Waters still a bit too hot down here in Florida. Fish should start biting in a few weeks. :D
Can't wait for Jan. and Feb. It's good now, but gonna be unbelievable this winter.

You should be able to get them through the ice....I just don't target them when I'm up north because I Target the Yellow Parch...
They have to eat year round.

We fish for them all year long here in MS. Winter is a good time to crappie fish for us.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Personally i cant wait for hard water. Love pulling them up through the hole. Usually no crowds. Quite dark snowy nights are a lot of fun if you have the right equipment and dress for it. Up in Northern Illinois there is a lot of pressure on our lakes so its nice when only the die hards are out. Tight lines or Flags up bobbers down.
