View Full Version : We should be close to turnover here in Ohio

We're a little late on everything this fall since summer lingered well into September and early October. However, we've had overcast skies for the past six days, a couple of inches of rain, highs in the forties and low fifties and lows in the mid-thirties for three nights running. All of those things should drop the surface temps significantly. The breezy conditions will help stir the pot, so to speak. Remember, the surface temp has to equal the coldest layer below the thermocline to start the turnover.

Last Wednesday when we werer out, the surface temps were in the mid-sixties and we found crappie in just a couple of feet of water.. After this week's weather, I seriously doubt we'll see any clustered shallow crappie.
