    .

9 inches early in the year and by June or July it's 10 inches. We have a couple of old broom handles cut to 10 inches on the boat for quick reference. If the crappie isn't as long as the stick it goes over the side.

I think the best eating crappie is around the ten inch length but the best catching fish for me is the 12 inch fish it just seem that the meat is softer in the smaller fish ?????

12" minimum on most of my lakes. They all taste the same regardless of size, the smaller fish are just easier on your knife.

I wish we had a keeper size limit up here. there is alot of heavily fishing pressured lakes & ive seen far too many little crappies in peoples buckets.
but generaly a 10in. is keeper size for me

Some of our lakes have a 12 in min. and others a 10 inch. Then there are also some with no size limit. I prefer the larger ones as they just seem easier to fillet.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Texas has a 10" min and usually don't keep a lot anyway. I have plenty in the freezer and sometimes will give some away on the water or just return them back into the lake. In the spring here I usually catch fish bigger than that for the first few months and the average is probably 12" or so with lots of 14"-15" and a few 17" or longer.
