Fishing continues to be tough, with no sign of a fall feeding frenzy - at least on the days we've been able to get out. Doug's off this week, so maybe things will improve.

Winds were much higher than predicted today, making for some rough fishing. Water levels have dropped a few inches the past month and surface temperature at ten this morning was 69 degrees.

Crappie were holding deep in the channels, tight to cover for the most part, though the odd fish would come to the surface to feed. We only took a half dozen or so,with a lot of hard work. Nothing was over 8 inches. Casting jigs tipped with nibbles or waxies was the only successful method. Minnows didn't get so much as a tap. Jigs that worked were glo-in-the-dark crappie slider, avocado crappie slider, a small mylar "hair" jig, and a white split-tail grub. I also caught a couple ofsmall channel cats.

The high points of the day were the two items we pulled out of the lake - a new battery operated night bobber that someone must have lost last night, and a deep diving crank bait. Both went into the tackle box while a little more mono went into the trash. - Roberta
