    Default Side imagers

I know I can't afford it right this minute but at some point in the near future I want to get one. I see now that they're putting on a down imager which is only a software upgrade. Question is how good is the 997 compaired to the 1197. Would it be GOOD ENOUGH to where I wouldn't regret buying one cauase I know they'll come up with a newer one in the next year or so thats even better than the 1197. I've found the 997 for $1,650 so that ain't bad

Bout the only differance between the 11 and the 9 are the screen sizes. and of course the prices.. Got mine on EBAY for just under 1400.

lil birdy told me 997s are on sale @ Cabelas and maybe some others now -
phasing it out in favor of 998 with faster processor speed and few other
new tricks. So I's told anyway.

Default It'll be next spring at the earliest before I can afford one

but darn sure wanting one NOW. I'll have a 520C and a SI, when I do get one. Since most of my fishing would be at the front of the boat, would I want the SI there and the 520 at the console or Visa Verse

DD, my thoughts on that up till now have been console, poke around on
the big motor and scan stuff, mark it, then go fish it from the front.

But just lately I rigged up a spare si transducer I had on the front - and
dang if it ain't pretty useful up there too! I've got it on a seperate
"pole" mount, not sure I'd like it as good if it was twisting around with
the tm head or not. But even spider-rigging, moving .5 or so you can
get decent pictures and see stuff off to the side to go investigate.

Default Hey JWhite. can you rotate that mount?

If you were sitting still and pivited it, you'd have a full 360 degree view of a stump field

Jeff you can bet when one model goes on sale. There's newer and better coming out.:D But then again I still have the first model that came out.

I ain't got around to tryin to rotate it yet, but did read some stuff about
a guy doing that through a hole in the ice...

I believe it will distort the image pretty good, I know turning the boat much
sorta smears it up. I would think it would make the "cursor over and mark" thing not doable too.
