Bend back your hook?

Guy on this video bends his new hooks out to catch more fish. He said it helps to hook them in the roof of the mouth. Any ideas?

I bend my hooks slightly to the side (kirbing.) I think it really helps hook-ups.

If you want to prove it to yourself, try this. Tie a short section of line to a jig. Then, lightly pinch the hook between your thumb and forefinger. Then, slowly pull on the line. You will almost never hook your thumb or forefinger doing this. The hook slides right between your fingers.

Now repeat the experiment but with the hook bent slightly to the side. Be careful, though. You will hook yourself every single time.

I have been bending my hooks out a little when I dock shoot for a long time especially if the jig hooks are small. Works for me.

I used to loose a fair share until I started doin' that, and I can atest to the diff.

That works great if your in open water but not so good if your fishing tree tops or brush. I also will bend a new hook back and forth to help weaken it so if I do hang up the hook will straighten out a little easier and saving a rig or jig. EB
