09-22-2009, 05:51 PM
Jimmie for Sat. night would be fine. Polvo if you could bring enough for one cooker would be great. Maybe a gallon jug. This list is coming together good. For the new guys we just kind of have a throw together pot luck style meals through the week and then a fish fry on Sat. night. So bring anything you can throw on a grill or in some grease and it will get cooked and ate. Does anyone close to there have a grill??

09-22-2009, 07:06 PM
Jared, I would gather up all the pop up shelters you can get in case of rain and a tarp for the wood pile. I have a pop up I will try to send with somebody if needed.

09-22-2009, 07:13 PM
Long range forcast looks like is going to be cool at night. May need lots of firewood.

09-23-2009, 05:00 PM
Still needing a grill. Anyone close have one? Gas or charcoal will work.

09-23-2009, 07:37 PM
If nobody has a grill that is close I can throw mine in my boat along with the firewood, it's a charcoal grill.

09-23-2009, 07:51 PM
Brian if it will ride all right in the boat go ahead and bring it. I will bring a bag or two of charcoal for it.

09-23-2009, 11:14 PM
I'll be bringing a small charcoal grill.

09-24-2009, 09:38 AM
I'll bring a Webber Kettle if we still need a grill.

09-24-2009, 10:03 AM
Bring it if you have room Chris. If not we will not go hungry I am sure.

09-26-2009, 11:50 AM
Bake and I will bring snacking stuff for around camp and will have something to go with the meal. Oh, and of course - lots of beer. See you all there.

09-27-2009, 04:24 PM
Unds good Jim. Looking forward to seeing you and "catfish".

09-27-2009, 05:11 PM
It'll be good to see ole "shadguts Baker" again.

09-27-2009, 05:48 PM
Put us down for onions. Could bring charcoal and lighter fluid y'all still need any.

Jared - if you have anything on your list you have not been able to cover, or you just want us to bring a big 'ole dish of something, let us know. The Mrs makes some wicked TX baked beans (with bacon, jalepeno, and I'm pretty sure there is some gasonline or something she throws in there) if you want us to bring a big crock of that stuff.

If anybody can think of anything the group needs that ISN'T on Jared's list, just let us know. We'll be getting packed up throughout this week.

Catfishing is my new challenge. Been catching some pretty good ones. Is a 19 or 20 lb. blue cat good eating? If so, may have to bring one to camp.

I keep looking for methods of fishing that makes it as easy as possible to smoke a big cigar, drink a beer, relax and fish, all at the same time. This drifting for catfish may be the ticket. I am getting lazy in my old age.

09-28-2009, 07:21 AM
Drifting maybe the ticket Mike until you run into a couple 20 lb fish at one time. Don't forget to wash your hands good after cathing one. Catfish slime would be a quick way to ruin a good cigar. See ya at camp. With the cool weather it may feel more like deer camp then crappie camp.

09-28-2009, 07:52 AM
I've been known to do a little catfishing myself, Mike. I prefer trotlining. I check them every 3 or 4 hours and crappie fish in between. Great way to spend a night on the water.

09-28-2009, 08:00 AM
Quick question: What type of chicken fingers do you all want? I didn't know if I should get frozen ones, or buy some already fried and just kept cool for random snacking. I'm guessing that you all want them cooked and ready to eat cold. Some buffalo style too?

09-28-2009, 03:59 PM
I plan on bringing some flathead catfish filets to camp, they are some good eat'n.:)

09-28-2009, 05:42 PM
Either way is fine polvo

09-28-2009, 07:26 PM

If a man had to worry about slimmy fingers he would never get any enjoyment out of life.

09-29-2009, 07:54 AM
I guess you are right Mike. It has been many years since I have fought in a big cat. Lots of 3 or 4 lb fish crappie fishing. But nothing like the farm pond fish we caught when I was a kid. I remember chasing them around the pond until we got them wore down enough to pull them to the bank.

Can you stay on hiway 5 all the way to the campground? Thru versailles and laurie?

Drove down to deer park sunday evening to look around .. they are doing some road work on hiway 5 in the 5-41 area if you are coming from the north versailles/laurie you will see road repair sign's about 1/2 mile north of road 5/41. also you will past a c-store/ phillips "66" gas station and a scotty's drive inn on the left... 5-41 road is straight across from them on the right will be hard to see in the dark....if coming from the south greenview/ camdenton you will go thur the Hiway 5/F road junction about 3/4 of a mile past you will also see road work sign's and some business on the right one will be a white building with a blue roof (camden country library) the next one is the U.S. Post Office. 5/41 road is just past the post office on the right.. SLOW down at the library easy to miss this road.. hope this will help some of you fine deer valley road..

Sounds good. Thanks J.J. for droping them off. I am sure we will sell some. I need to get a few also for people that ask me about them.
