I caught this over in Lake Houston this morning. Does anybody know what kind of fish it is?:confused:

Not positive but I think its a tilapia...good eatin right there

The tilapia have a very thick "lip" which are very rough to the feel, where the sun fish have a narrow lip

Yep those are talapia and they are all around that area what I have heard. They are good eating and get a whole lot bigger than that. As I understand it they will feed on bread balls, corn, real worms, and a variety of other things. I have been fishing really close to Lake Houston but have not caught any yet, but I also mainly target bass and crappie.

It is a Talapia for sure. Great to eat. They stock them around here during summer for algae control.

Talipia And are some fine eating!!
I use to sell 30to 40lbs easy a week just out of a fresh sea food counter.
Until they cuaght on and now the markett is very good!!
Very mild fish and if you have them in a lake or pond they die out almost every year at a certain water temp!
And people go to net them when they come to the top of the water and fill up the old freeze box. You might have to fight off the eagle's tho They seem to lave them so!!
