Default Couple of Labor Day 2009 NY Slab Black Crappies

These 2 nice NY Slabs were caught in 60 feet of water (10-15 feet down) using Gulp Minnows on 1/32 jig heads, crappies would take these on the fall!!!!

Great looking color on those fish. Do U fish any certain color for clear to clearer water?

Hi Jaxsprat, I usually will fish as natural a color as I can go with for clear water situations! In this case, I was using a shad color (greyish with black back). For other soft plastics, I will use "see through" translucent colors (e.g. watermelon seed, motoroil, etc.) in daylight clear water situations, whereas in dark or murky water or nighttime or overcast situations, I would use more opaque and "non-see through" colors (green pumpkin, black, pumpkinseed, etc.)! Hope this is helpful!!!

Thanks for all the nice comments on my Crappies! Hey BottomBumper, the water temp was hovering around 65 degrees. Both Crappies are around 14+ inches ( I was on a friend's boat and did not take time to measure or weigh them--just had him take some quick pics of these 2 Slabs--then released them to get bigger for another angler to enjoy!!!!)
