We fished a new lake today and had 4 keepers (+10"). I was tough. We couldn't buy a bite on jigs. All were on minnows. We could mark the fish, but we couldn't put them in the boat.

Went yesterday to pre-fish our first (open) tourney for our FUTURE club. Didn't catch a crappie all day! Did catch about 15 yearling bass. Had our tourney today and even though only 6 of us showed up, we still had fun. I caught 20, throwed 1 back, gave 9 dinks away, and came in third place with 9lb 4oz for ten fish. First had 13lbs 0.6oz and he had big fish with 1lb 9.3oz. Second had 11lb (not sure about oz). Weather change and none of us are experts made for small amounts. Man that won, fishes that river everyday (retired and lives right there) and has tops out in several places. Good people, Good fun, and Good fish for supper!!

Hey Spider Rig Man:

Had a great morning and a terrible afternoon - but that's fishing! Everyone caught something and said they had a good time and would be back.

I hit all the regular hotspots. I fished some new brush as well. I spent 4 hours hunting them. I caught 2 11" crappie all day. I only had 5 bites, and also caught 1 drum, 1 mississippi white, 1 white bass. I checked some standing timber that has been good to me. I had a friend that fished the shallow timber and he got nothing. I spent 2 months this summer learning this lake, and found the spots I fish. Almost every spot is in the 18' depth. I am begining to think that every time I go out, I need to place at least one new brushpile.

I got up at 3:30 am this morning, with stars shining. On my way to the lake...200 mile round trip... I noticed way down the road the lightening. My heart sank. Then got to bait shop, he was not open. So I figured I did not need minnows, I have plenty of jigs.I got to the lake, water was way down. and by this time I was in the thunder storm. Raining like crazy and some big thunder. So I set in my truck and caught a cat nap. The thunder subsided, so I put my rain gear on and hit the water. I did not get to fish where I wanted due to low water, but I did get to scout some of the area fish and took pictures of the structure. I went to deep part of the lake and caught 10 and kept 3. So not a total loss. I enjoyed it.

you guys should thihnk about fishing some of the Shoals Area tournaments. We fish in your area. It's a small association with anywhere form 7-15 boats in each tournament. We are a bunch of nice fellas that just like to compete with each other. Just think about it for the future. If you have any questions about the association, give me a call. Meanwhile, good fishing.

I am NOT glad that I was the only one who did not do too good. But, at least, we were out. Sat was tough fishing here.

I got up early and went deer hunting. Then I went home and got the boat. I got on the water at 12:30. I stopped and fished a brushpile and a stump that were 16' and 14' deep. Didn't have a bite. So I decided to try going up in a creek and fishing shallower and then work my way deep again till I found fish. I ended up catching 24 of which 9 were keepers. All were about 6' deep in about 7' of water in stakebeds or right on stumps on the edge of a creek channel. They would only hit a 1/32 jig in orange/chatruese and blk/grn/chart. They were hitting very light and if you got too close to the cover with the boat, you might as well go on to the next one. And the wind was cold.
