Default Looking For CB Base Station

Looking for one that's in good condition, not the old tube type. Something like a Cobra 142 GTL, or Cobra 2000. Not looking for one that burns the leaves off the my neighbor's tree's, just a stock radio is fine with me.

Pawn shop near me had one a while back. Sideband or AM.only? Give me some parameters and I'll look around here. Been playing with em since '72. Used to be a hobby that kept me close to home, now I drive and use it every day.

Wish I had some of the money back I spent on all that stuff back in the late 70's and early 80's, I had to have the whole 9 yards till the FCC got done with me then I quit!! I messed up to many TV's, Did sell some stuff, still got 2 sets of beams and 1 antron 99, thought some day I might mess with it again. Just seen this post and had to comment. Nothing for sale though.

depending on how far you want to talk you might want to contact your local ham radio club/group. From memory I think CB can only go 10w ERP max which depending on conditions can talk a few miles out to several hundred at night/early AM on skip (legally). With Ham Radio you can EASILY talk that far and more using different frequencies and methods and can legally run up to 1500watts of power on certain bands..

Really comes down to what you want to do? Using local repeaters you can talk over an entire city area or more with a hand held unit on VHF/UHF. There are a few repeaters near charlotte that allow us to talk to folks up near the mtns on VHF/UHF.

Thanks for your response..I'm really looking for the Cobra 142 GTL Base in good condition. I've seen some for $150.00 not to long ago, but wasn't ready to buy then.

Look over on ebay. I have bought several base stations there.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Gary those are hard to find. I think I did see one at Crump last weekend. But can't remember that good.
I did have an old one in the shop down by the river. But when I was down there last week. Someone had taken it and the welder and a few more things.
