With the cool weather were having here now. And the last cool spell cooling the water down before. What temp starts the fall season of the crappie movement?
Our water here last week on the Tn River in West Tn was 79.8 Degrees. This am the temps are 55 degrees and north winds :D
Will know what the water temps are here in a few. Will be going to the lake mid week. So plan on keeping an eye on the temps and see when I find the fish are moving from there deep summer hunts.

I start to see some increased activity as the temps drop below 75 in the lakes I fish.

My SWAG is 75 degrees. This number is based on my records Pete. Big Sandy area.

On my home lake there is always some fish shallow (if you can find them and make'em bite) but seems to me 70* things start happening on the main lake. When it gets to 60* is the time to head up to the headwaters, creeks and rivers for the best fishing of the year. For me anyway!

Majic temp based on my experience fishing in Rivers is 75. Same in Impoundments. Fish get active once there is a gradual and steady decline in water temp. Bottombumper

My last trip out the water temperature was 74degrees. Caught a bunch at 9ft. anchored in 30ft water. Of course red/white crappie tubes.

Up here in north IN, it never got much above 75. Now what do I look for?

My opinion is when you get a signifagant surface temp drop ,for us August can mean water temps above 90. So when it drops below 80 it starts, when it drops below 70 hang on!

Thanks Guys..
Cane Pole I think mine and your temps should be the same time frame. As were close. Also if out get out on the main lake. HEHE I have used that water before it gets to you.
But I guess you stay in big Sandy so were using different waters. But close enough.
The water today was 78.5 degree but it was 51 degrees this am with North winds again. Love it.
Fall time in Tn on the way.

Ps Tom can you post that deal on water temp you posted a while back? I had it on my laptop. But it crashed.
