I too have NEVER seen a screen like that either. I think that is done in salt water over a massive school of ...something. Just dont think it's that easy to interperet in real life.
I have an eagle 320 on trolling motor and a480 on the console
My question is do any of you get the images of fish arches like they show in the ads?I go out and adjust mine every way i can and have never read anything like that,I can find brush and other cover but can never really say i see anything as fish for sure.Am i adjusting something wrong if i turn sensitivity up i get dots and lines but no arches. Thanks for any ideas

No. Odd that they would use a pic like that to sell their fish finders though. LOL.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
I have had a 320 in the past and I had very good luck with it! I ran it on a Minkotta with US. Alot of your problem is probably in the settings. I never had a screen shot like the one in your post but had pretty good luck with the unit overall! If your getting the dots and lines when your playing with the sensitivity, just turn it down till it is gone! I kinda remember what I ran for settings, here is how I had mine set up:
Sensitivity - 75%
grayscale - 50%
Ping Speed - 100%
Chart Speed - 75-100% - Depends on if I was moving or anchored how I set it!
These are the main settings I ever messed with. Play with these settings and se what you come up with. Another thing that could be wrong is your transducer is bad. I had the problem once, replaced the ducer and worked fine!
Hope this helps you out, let me know if you get it working right!
HuskerLand is the name, custom jigs are the game!

You never will get them to look exactly like the images they show, but you can get darn close. Depth, as well as speed are important to a good arch image.

I got a 480, only time I ever see arches is when I get over stripers and sometimes it will cover the screen. But when I am crappie fishing, I can see brush, my 1/2 oz sinker and minnow show up as a line on screen, I can pick up the rod and the line will rise on the screen, but not many arches. I think it would take a big crappie to show up as a arch on the 480. If there is bait around the brush, there will be crappie. so I dont worry about seeing arches. Plus , most of the time you are crappie fishing in shallow water, 20 or less, so your cone is not that big at that depth. That's my 2 cents worth.

It should help you out. I've seen arches on mine, but not like they picture in the advertisements. I only get 'em when the boat is moving at a couple miles per hour or better tho.
Hope that helps,
