    Default Lure bodies too soft

I have found Bobby Garland and Charlie Brewster/Slider jig bodies to be way too soft. They tear apart and I'm going through them too fast. I guess a softer jig might feel more natural but the darn things are as soft as butter. I catch as many fish on other firmer plastic jigs but happen to have a few color/styles I like in the BG and CB lines. It's annoying. I think they do it this way to sell more lures. I wish there was a way to toughen them up.

    Default My fix

hey wasabi I have run into the same issue and found a way to make them last a good deal longer. I put just a dab of super glue on the jig shank before I slide the jig body up on it. This seems to extend the life a great deal by not allowing the skirt to be jerked down every time there is a hit.

I've glued them and tubes too, using a crazy glue variant (can't recall the name at the moment) that was suggested on this web site. Works good, but I keep gluing my fingers together or to the tube! Embarassing to have tube tentacles glued to your fingers.....

Just can't seem to get one drop at a time out!!

Why not get some hand tied jigs in the colors you like as I know mine will last for at least 100 fish and had reports from some that have caught over 300 on one jig. I can't seem to keep from losing them before that myself, LOL!

Skip, I love hand tied jigs, fish with them all the time. But when I'm spider rigging 10 baits in the water, it's a lot faster changing tubes than retying jigs when you find what they want that day.

Shot me a PM, I had pour 2" and 3" baits that are same as the Bobby Garlands but in stronger plastic and can make any colors you want. Also make 2" and 3" tubes that are a solid body that out last all others.
