mtl 8/15

put in at south fork and went up stream. fished 17' to 20' about 8-10' down.
kept some crappie 11-14 inches. only found them on a couple of trees. used bobby garland baby shads in gumdrop, electric chicken and licorice tipped with a niblet. caught some smaller ones which i released for next year. did have a lot strikes but did not hook up. hooked what i think was a really big crappie but pulled loose. pitched right back in and caught the 14 incher. the fish did not want the jig moved. i lowered the jig and held it still for about 15 or 20 seconds before i would get a strike.

funny thing is that i was up there on tuesday with my 10 yr old fishing the same spots using minnows and only caught six fish all day. interesting how things change.
