Default definition of a riveted or welded boat?

Good morning, I'm new to this forum I hope I'm doing this right.
Could someone please give me with the definition of a riveted or welded boat? When I bought my Jon boat many years ago, I never thought to ask for riveted or welded. The reason I ask is I’m now selling my Jon boat and people keep asking is it riveted or welded? The complete outside of the boat is welded, but all the seats and braces are riveted. So is it a riveted or welded boat?

Generally (in my area) when someone refers to a welded boat they mean....is there any rivets in the boat that extend thru the main hull ......especially below the water line.....

And welcome to the forum...west ky says hey ya'll...

yea if any of the seams below the water line are held together with rivits, it's a rivited boat. If all the seams are welded than it's welded. HOW OLD IS THE BOAT? That can usually tell you what is what.

If the ribs of the boat are riveted, it is considered a riveted boat.

I agree with Backwaters, with the info you've given it sounds like a riveted boat.

I Hate To See Rivets Used , But The Hull Should Have None.

Thanks everyone for their reply’s, but I’m still a little confused? The only rivets that go through the boat are from the seats, which the rivets go across the bottom of the boat and up the sides and the front platform, that’s above the water line. If you didn’t have the seats and the front platform there would be no rivets. Maybe this is a better way of putting it? The bottom, sides and back of the boat are welded. I’m just trying to be absolutely certain; I don’t want to mislead anyone. As you can tell I’m not boat savvy, just love to fish when I can get out.

Hey WD, welcome. If I'm understanding you correctly, the rivets in your seat go across the BOTTOM of your boat and then up the sides, correct? If so, the boat has rivets below the water line and I would consider that a rivited boat.

Guys, am I on target with those thoughts?

I would consider it to be riveted as well.
