Pre-heat them to 300 and you won't melt any of them. I use a small toaster oven to heat mine before I paint them.

You will like them. Tubes, grubs, etc. stay on without the barbs. The short shank want let them move much. You will find most of your hookups will be in the roof of the fish's mouth.

The genius of fishing is the dummy holding the pole. Well, so says me and you can quote me on this.:D

As for the flat sides I can't really come with a good reason as to why I chose them other than 'different strokes for different folks'. :D

Yesterday I was using them in some real nasty log jams in the river and went back to the Crappie pro jig heads because I felt the smaller hook gap with the longer shank hook tended to shake loose a little bit better before resorting to running the rod tip down to the snag or pulling to break off or straighten out the hook. Now one would must always be cognizant of just how sane it is for one to risk running a rod tip down a tight line into the brush to free a 15 cent jig and risk breaking a rod tip in the process. I've done it many times and haven't embarrassed myself yet but in all probability I will at sometime. :D

Before ordering these from GrouseFly one day I was using the Crappie Pro 1/16 or 1/32 oz jig heads and I was really thinking the smaller gap hooks weren't hooking up as well as I wanted on the hook set and I was missing bringing fish in. At that point I was wishing Crappie Pro was using larger hooks on their smaller weight jig heads. As that was occurring on the water I recalled Cane Pole talking about some short shanked wide gap hooks he had been using and referring to them as "quarter pounders" :D and thought I would like to try them out myself.
