    Question Night Stalking Using Generators?

    undefined

I DO MOST OF MY FISHING AT NIGHT, OR LATE EVENING. I HAVE
HEARD OF SOME GUYS USING A GENERATOR AT NIGHT TO SUPPLY
LIGHT WHILE CRAPPIE FISHING. I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT
GENERATORS. HAVE ANY OF YOU GUYS TRIED IT AND HOW DID IT WORK?
SEEMS TO ME THE NOISE WOULD RUN THE FISH OFF. I USE THE
UNDERWATER LIGHTS AND PROPANE LIGHTS AND IT WORKS PRETTY
    WELL.

when I go alone, I use an inverter, battery, lantern and a couple submersibles. It works fine.
When I go with my buddy, we use his Honda generator ( like a little suitcase).
It runs a couple lights and our air bubbler for the minnows. We use the clamp on lights on the side of the boat and aim them at the water. So, no submersibles.
I don't think our catch rate makes much difference. Without the generator, it's quieter, but have to be careful with the lantern(s).

This is the one we use. It's very handy, not heavy and not noisy as some. If I had the money, it's the one I'd get.

Yea the noise will make you have to yell over it.

just yankin you. Seems the vibration would have some type reaction from the fish.

ROFLMAO...I can just picture someone on the lake at night with a generator in the boat...not only would the noise/vibration spook the fish, but it would spoil the peace and quiet...not to mention your relationship with any other fishermen out there!! Seriously, stick with battery/propane lights...just don't hook up the lights to your starting battery, like I did one night...man...what a long paddle back to camp!!

There are several folks at the lake that I frequent that use generators, not sure about crappie, but I've been on guided striper and catfish trips at Santee, where the guides run a kicker motor non-stop...they say it "attracts" these fish.

    Default generators

florida is full of boats running generators at nite for lights to catch crappie
the nitetime catch is far more productive per hr. than daytime fishing

the lakes are very shallow 3-7 ft. so I don,t think the noise hurts the cstch rate
