Default Lake flat as a parking lot today

I'm a jigpole fisherman with one in each hand and went this morning and only got 3 keepers, biggest was 13". The bites I got were 11" to 8" deep. Had only 4 throwbacks. No wind at all and it got hot in a hurry, where is fall? I have always had problems catching crappie with the water flat. Tried different colors and sizes with no joy. Anyone else have the same problem and if so how do you over come it? May have to put on a cork and try to stay away from them a little bit, hard to throw 10' under a cork and I do love the thump.

    Default Me too

I noticed the same thing. If the water is slick as glass with no wind and the fish won't hit at all, I'll pick up an ultra-lite and throw as small a jig as I can and reel it in slow. This doesn't work all the time, but sometimes they'll catch on. I'm like you though as it's hard for me to get away my jig poles. Old habits are hard to break. Wish you had done better. A buddy and me went this morning and caught 2 small bass and 2 bream. Not much happening.
