Here is the typical environment that you would be fishing in at Patoka.

Dennis:

I would estimate that about 60% of the lake is full of wood. Now some areas are so full of wood that you can't hardly get your boat though it.

AGREED, whole-heartedly....it was pretty loaded!

I started to say something yesterday to that effect, but didn't want
anyone to think I was "downing" their favorite lake :) I realize I'm an
oddball when it comes to crappie fishing (among other things) but it
looks like a nightmare to me :D My dream situation is a huge flat with
a creek channel winding down it, with maybe a few low stumps...
or nothing else! I guess its good some of us like fishing different stuff,
or else we'd all be in each other's way :D Same for the golfers I used to
watch when I fished Trace State Park - I imagined we both thought about
the same of each other while doing our respective things out in the rain and
cold - NUTS! It'd be awful crowded down on the fishing hole if we all thought
exactly the same. Jeff

You are exactly right...different strokes for different folks! Works for me.

That's weird, I never would have guessed why....

Nah, thats only like what about 5 percent of Bay Springs looks like -
the 5 percent there ain't no fish in, 'cause you can read the date on a
dime laying on the bottom around most all the timber there :D
Pete, you gotta come fishing down there with me sometime - one good
day, and you might even like that lake ;)

I'm glad someone cleared most of the land before backing up the water around here. Lake Eufaula has plenty of area like that but the newer lakes here were cleared. I think... if not where did the trees go?
