I use gold just because thats what my dad and grandpa use/used. never tried a red hook i guess the advantage of a red one would be that it looks like blood...

Used both, sometimes gold works better, sometimes red works better, sometimes no difference. Can't say if one bends easier than the other tho.

red hooks all the way. I even catfish with red hooks.
Gold hooks work fine, as do bronzed. I just have come to highly prefer the red hooks, on all my baits, wether it be hooks, jigs, crankbaits ect, they all have red hooks.

Gold hooks on sunny days. Red hooks for cloudy days.

Not all red hooks have gold under coatings;I use Wally Marshalls'"Mr.Crappie" hooks 90% of the time..When the paint is CHEWED off,the hook is silver...They bend just like a gold hook...

We use to favor gold hooks and then started getting better results with red ones. Then we started using chartreuse hooks and NEVER use any other color now, even when fishing for Tuna. We powder coat our own and they work hands down better for all fish. Before settling on the chartreuse hooks we would fish side by side with one using one color and the other using another. We did this a lot and the chartreuse hooks always caught more fish.

Yep I know a few folks who use chart and orange powder coated hooks in saltwater, they catch as many as anyone else.
