It's funny, many people I talk with on the water say the crappie bite is over, when they see my stringer, they say "well it'll be shutting down soon." :D I just think it gets too hot for some of the fishermen & women... not the fish.

Yep they gotta eat somethin'...... figure out what that is and where it's livin' and the crappie won't be far.

Yep! Some days are better than others but they can be caught year around.

If you already know a good crappie spawning area in a cove or creek near points, you need to place some brushpiles in deeper water where they can retreat during the hot weather. Near a creek channel or roadbed headed toward the main river channel, build more brushpiles, like make them a route to deeper water. It used to work for us. Lots of reservoirs are getting older and losing their natural cover. We need to put it back.

I love when everyone quits crappie fishing in the early summer and don't fall fish either. I only crappie fish except when the grandkids want to fish then it's fishin for anything that will bite. Crappie eat just like we do often?? Summer is just a matter of finding a pattern and stay with it,a little slower and a little deeper but that's all there's really to it. Keep that wide brim hat on...

I just learned how this year myself, (still learning). One thing that is a must have is a quality depth finder. I had to buy a new one, I was amazed how much better I could see the brush piles in 30-40 fow. Also check with the older guys that get to fish on the week days, they will usually share info about how deep. Good luck
