Default New baitcast reel "Tightline Special"

Just got one to try out. Think I am really going to like it. Much improved over the others I have. Has a tension knob used to control line speed when button is pushed to release line. Has a star drag setup just like most bass baitcasters. Most other reels this style just have a lever to rlease line and with out it in the locked postion the drags are not ever good enough to hold up for a hard hookset. Still only weighs 4 oz just like my others. $19.99 at Bass Pro. I heard there is another company making these also. Itook it in to Everhart's yesterday to see if they could find some like it. Here is a few pictures of it. Sure looks good on that new Ozark rod.

Glad to hear that. I have the same reel on my new 10' rod.

that looks like the reel I seen on the J Js rods, never used them but have a couple I never put on, is it awkward to handle with out a pistol grip rod?

Stren Sonic braid hi-vis gold 4# dia. and 14# strength. I have it on everything. I have tried them all and have found nothing that compares to Stren braid.

I agree.....I like the looks of your line. Thanks for the post, even if it's not the direction you meant to head. I'll have to check will Roger's this week.

I put that same reel on the rod my son got from Tony at Crappie Camp. Got him one of those Uncle Buck ones first, and I hated it. Was experiencing problems right off the bat when I was putting line on it for the first time. Dumped that one and got him one of these...
So far he's used it on 3 outings without a hitch. Seems pretty simple and easy to use for jigging. Definately worth the price (so far!).
