Hi Does anybody have any tips on how to keep a fish from shrinking after you caught it any would be helpful. Thanks mooreman
I don't know how to stop the shrinking process . I've seen a lot of 2 lb. crappies shrink down to 3/4 lb. by the time they got weighed .:D:D
For what it's worth: was having a conversation with some bassers
awhile back (yes I know, nasty habit) and the subject of keeping fish alive
in a livewell came up, which led to talking about the powder or pellet products
you put in the water to help. Can't remember which brand they said, but
it was the one which is supposed to help calm the fish, keep them from
thrashing around and injuring themselves... anyway, part of the story was
they said they had seen it actually GROW a borderline 12" bass an 1/8"
or so in the livewell. Their theory was that by relaxing the fish, it stretched
out. Take that for what it's worth from somebody who bass fishes :p

@lozcrappie
i have heard that when you catch a fish they tense up and are shorter. they will relax in livewell and lengthen a little. then i have heard they tense up in the livewell. take your pick.
Good luck with that one.
They always pucker up and shrink when the game Warden arrives! LOL
We have a 10 inch size limit here and I don't put anything in the live well unless it is 1/8th inch over the 10. On a hot day or if you have a lot of fish in the livewell they will shrink at least an 1/8th of an inch. EB
