    Default Mono line twist

I've been using Cajun Red 4# mono and line twist is giving me fits! Bring in a fish or bring it in to change a bait, and the line wraps around the rod tip once slack gets in it. I've let all the line out behind the boat with no lure or swivel, and trolled with it that way, as I've heard it will get the line twist out, but it didn't work. I'm thinking of going with braid, but I'm concerned it will happen with that too. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Smile Mono twist

If spooled on reel same as it comes off holder it will not twist. I use mono cajun red 6 lb. and have good luck with it.

I tried that red stuff a few years back, too much memory for me -now happy using either vicious hi viz & or gamma is great also & very strong.

If you pitch jigs, you're gonna get line twist. It seems to be worse with Cajun Red. Best so far has been Gamma, unless you use a braid.

some reels do better at negating line twist also. daiwa reels seem to do better for me, except a 1000 shimano symetre, thats an older one, and a jewel.

Spool size makes all the diffrence in line twist for me. I got rid of all those little spooled ultralight reels and moved up to a bigger size spool. Cost a little more for the reels but well worth it to me. Shellback, try the 1500 size reels and see the diffrence it makes.

Ditto on what redear and chaunc said. Daiwa and Shimano have excellent "anti-twist" features which really help. Bigger spools help, too.

What also helps is to close the bale with your hand, do not use reel to flip bale shut, as this can put a twist in your line.

I havent been fishing in months. Since some time last year.
My rods have in the barn in all this heat without moving.
I'll bet the first 100' off each one will have such a 'set' it wont even come off with any thing less than a Half ounce of weight.
Its been neary 95 degrees out for two weeks and has hit 100+ a couple times.
I think I'll probably go to braid instead of mono when I finally do get ready to fish.
I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D
