    Default Power tilt and trim

I found a replacement LU for my '94 Johnson 50hp and ....luckily...I not only got the LU.. I also got the power tilt and trim bracket and all...

Although I don't need to replace my power tilt and trim I am going to keep the one I just obtained in case mine ever goes out or gives me trouble..

I would like to test this power tilt and trim while it is hanging on my workbench....

As you can see from the pic...these are the wires that come out thru the mounting bracket going to the trim motor..

Can anyone tell me how jury-rig these wires to 12v and some sort of switch to make the tilt and work operate while hanging on the workbench?

I must be dense, definitely not electrical savvy, because I'm not understanding the wire colors at Information and help for trim and tilt problems in relation to my wires...

As seen in the pic of my OP there are 2 "sets" of wires coming from the power t & t....

One "set" of 2 wires (both black) are about 10 gauge going to a plastic 3/4 inch female plug.....I would think this "set" of wires would be to 12v power (pos. and neg.)...??

The second "set" of 3 wires are about 18 gauge....of these three 18 gauge wires, two of them (the black and green are crimped together in a 1/4 inch electrical connector leaving the white 18 gauge wire snipped off short...I would think this "set" of wires would be to a switch....??

always remember blue wire is blue like the sky, green wire is down like grass.

rnvic, the "set" of wires with the two black wires go directly to the trim motor. push them out of the female 3/4" plug and take them directly to your battery. one side to neg. one side to pos. the trim will either go up or down. reverse the wires on the battery and the trim should go the opposite direction.

    Thanks guys for the info...

Now,....the other set of 3 wires (18 gauge) comes from some sort of switch mounted underneith that engages against the motor mount bracket when the t & t is in the down position...

The switch is called a "sending unit" here....http://shop2.evinrude.com/ext/index....6362c44ebf6a71

    What does this switch do...??

Those should go to the sending unit for a trim gauge. I may be wrong but I believe it is what they go to. Do not put power on those wires.
