    Default Monday at Smithville

Monday was a lot better than Sunday for. Started out at noon and ended at 5:00pm. I took everyone's advice and headed for the stained water. And man, that did the trick. Temp was great, slight breeze, about 1 foot clear, and the water was 76. I fished the large cove up by Trimble (the one with the island). Nobody on the water at noon, so nice and quite. Fished about 8-15' water and found the crappie about 2-4' from the bottom. I was hitting all the trees close to shore. Tried to head to deep water, found a lot of crappie hanging around, but they were not biting. Ended up with 9 over 12'. Caught about 25 overall. Thanks to everyone that posted about the clarity of water. Made my day a lot more fun when I was actually catching fish.

Sounds like you did well. I agree, most of my fish come out of stained water. Sometimes....it's beyond "stained". I hope to get on the water tonight.

Should still be good fishing. We didn't get the rain that OSS did, thankfully and the coe still not releasing any water so to speak. I'll let you know.

The color that was working the best was black/chart and the second was a tri-color black/green/chart.
