Default OK yall, need help with my headlights.

I posted this on the other forum I frequent, but not any help. Problem?? Here it is.
1999 Ford F-150. Headlights are dull and cloudy.
Have tried 8 different products that said it would "make them look like new"
Even tried to put a buff wheel on my drill and used dupont old no.7 compound polish.
    Acids, polish, "Magic Stuff"..nothing works.
Wallmart has an advert saying they can make headlights look like new, the guy in the service area said, "Dude, there is nothing that can be done for an F-150, it is a inherent flaw with the fords."

I cannot afford to buy whole new headlight setups (almost $300 for both) so now you can see why I am crying for help.
Anyone else had this problem and solved it??? If there is something I have not tried, would like to know the name of it and if it worked for you. Thanks in advance.

I dont know what they are made of and have never dealt with the problem but when making acrylic and polycarbonate goose calls we use a small propane torch to clear up fog and scratches. You just run it over it real quick and your done. It might work for you?? If you cant find anything else that works you might test it in the corner were if it doesn't work it wont hurt. Good luck.

I'm not sure what the problem is with the Ford lens, but I cleared up my Chrysler mini van lenses in about 1 hour. My lenses had turned yellow. I wet sanded with some fine wet/dry automotive sandpaper used wet, until the yellow was gone. Then moved to a finer and finer and finer paper until all of the scratches were gone. The lens was clear at this point but cloudy. Polished up with some compound on a buffer. It made a world of difference. I used water for all the sanding.

That happened to a Dodge Dakota I had. If there's a crack or leak in the seal around the lens then they can get like that on the INSIDE and there's nothing you can do except look for some in a junk yard.

I would check with a large used car dealer in your area. Ask if they have someone who comes by and provides this service for them. They can give you a name and phone #. My son and I have pretty much perfected a method of cleaning these headlights. Our # 1 customer was the car dealers. A trip to Iraq put a stop to our business but i'm sure there are others who do this in your area.

I work part time in an auto parts store. Trust me...it's not just Fords, and not just you. Newer vehicles of all makes are having this same problem. As far as I know replacement is the only sure fix. The 10-12 different products that I know about do not work well.

Thanks for all the responses. I will get in touch with some car lots to check them for a source. With all the work I have done on the outside of the lenses, I am beginning to think it is on the inside, but it is a sealed unit with only a hole big enough for the lamp to fit into. This leaves most all "Inside of the lense" cleaning/buffing out of the picture. Thanks for the help and directions, will try to experiment around. After all, if I screw something up, replacement is an option. Might be able to afford one this month and one the next.......if they still make them.

That be the one. Guess all the quotes I got was dealer prices with the whole assembly. Will just order the left and right one separate. That will only be $52. LOTS cheaper than anything I have found.
    Thanks.
