just noticed that gator had a very similar question about cranks... saw what was recommended but unsure of the best way to use them?
saw that another person was catching crappie using crankbaits and i just can't take it anymore, cuz i don't have any in my crappie bag
i have never really used crankbaits for catching crappie and wonder how you all do it? cast and retrieve or pull behind the boat? and how deep should they run? trees or docks, and what about rattles? starting from scratch here...
i have caught some nice crappie on cranks when i was bass fishing in the past and just figured it was a fluke since i used cranks a lot and very rarely caught any specks...
any info would be helpful

line to a 3way swivel. Crank off swivel on 3 foot leader. 2 oz bell sinker off bottom of swivel on 12" leader. Drop straight down from boat as boat is moving to avoid tangles. Good luck.

Here's a pic of what Bob was describing.
This method is called 'pushing' as the rig is in front of the boat.

Never "pushed" before got a couple questions:
How fast are you trolling these baits?
What happens when you get hung up on underwater obstuction, seems like rods fold under the boat and you have some broken rods?
Good pics, have to try that some time.
I have never done very much of it, but from my experience, you need at LEAST 4 ounces for "pushing" Bandit 300 series baits. Speed is 1.5-2 mph.
If anyone cares rogers has 20 or 25 % off on All crank baits bought some bandit 200 series for $3.53
