    Default My new pole holders

Here are the new holders that I am building. Each individual holder is fully adjustable up/down and side to side with the use of a wrench. The hole top bar will also swivel side to side. It has a dovetail mounting plate so that the holder can easily be removed. The actual holder has no open ends to catch line, clothing, etc. I will try and get more close-ups of the adjustment.

Look pretty good. I would make a bigger base for the pedestal though. It would help spread some of the weight out and beef it up as a whole quite a bit. Even if the base is bolted through the deck, a wider base would help. I promise you as time goes, they will experience some sort of stress from the side. If you are using screws to fasten it to the deck or rail, they could strip easily. Other than that, I don't see why they wouldn't be a fine addition to a fishing rig.

I don't know who did them first between ya's, but this has been out for quite some time:

    Bee Ready Rod Holders

Might want to check in to patent status's on this one.

Not exactly the same, these actually have much more adjustment.

I have been using the same size base for 8 years now with no problem. Thanks for the advice though, I understand exactly what you are saying.

Looks nice. If ya'll want to see some off the wall, heavy duty stuff, go
down and walk aroung the campgrounds at Sardis - I always look over the
rigs when we are down there snagging in October. You know someone is
a crappie fanatic when you see them shooting big lag screws into the deck
of pretty new bass boats! :D I've seen a lot down there made out of wood
with some stuff as big as 4X4's - but they do a lot of fishing down there
with poles near 20' and BIIIIG weights. It takes a lot to hold up against
    that kind of leverage/pull.
